La cuarentena funciona. Logr\u00f3 ralentizar los contagios por coronavirus y evit\u00f3 que la Argentina siguiera un ritmo de mortalidad que la hubiera llevado a acumular decenas de miles de muertos para mediados de mayo, seg\u00fan surge de un an\u00e1lisis de los datos oficiales disponibles y su comparaci\u00f3n con la evoluci\u00f3n de la pandemia en otros pa\u00edses que desarroll\u00f3 el director de la Carrera de M\u00e9dico Especialista en Evaluaci\u00f3n de Tecnolog\u00edas Sanitarias de la Facultad de Medicina de la UBA, Esteban Lifschitz.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00abLa cuarentena ha cumplido su cometido, y con creces\u00bb, afirm\u00f3 Lifschitz en su informe \u00ab\u00bfQu\u00e9 hubiera pasado sin cuarentena?\u00bb, que redact\u00f3 con la informaci\u00f3n disponible hasta el viernes sobre los tiempos de duplicaci\u00f3n de muertes por Covid19, que era de entre 2 y 4 d\u00edas antes del inicio de la cuarentena y desde el 27 de marzo lleg\u00f3 a demorarse hasta 7 d\u00edas.<\/p>\n

Basado en esos primeros datos, Lifschitz estim\u00f3 qu\u00e9 hubiera ocurrido si la Argentina continuaba con una tasa de duplicaci\u00f3n de muertes cada cuatro d\u00edas. Es decir, el ritmo previo a la cuarentena. Estim\u00f3 que al jueves 9 de abril se hubiera llegado con 170 muertos en el pa\u00eds en vez de 71 y de continuar con ese ritmo se hubiera llegado a los 87.000 decesos para mediados de mayo, seg\u00fan el tambi\u00e9n investigador del Instituto de Medicina para la Seguridad Social y Evaluaci\u00f3n Tecnol\u00f3gica (Imsset) de la UBA.<\/p>\n
